House #35

Serhiy &Julia Potapenko

house

Our family is from Ukraine. We moved to Brookings about a year and half ago. We came to the United States because Serhiy had a dream to see America from the inside, not just through movies. He thought that America could give Daniel a bright future. Our family did not expect the kindness we received from our church family and even the town of Brookings. So many people were nice to us and we have made many good friends since we have moved here. Now we are blessed with our own home. We have come this far and been blessed by so many people because of God.

Our son, Daniel, is 8 years old and he goes to Hillcrest Elementary school. He has made so many friends and he likes his teacher Daniel has one wish that he has asked for a long time. He really wants a puppy or a kitten. Daniel is so excited that his dream will come true.

This house means a lot to us. It is our dream to own a home. It will be so nice to have our own space, be able to have friends over for gatherings, and have a yard with a garden and swing set.
