Steve Helling

Steve grew up around Mitchell, South Dakota. He attended SDSU and received a Bachelors in General Studies and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling in 1978. He and his wife Mary Kay have four children and live south of Brookings in a home they built in 1979.  He was a member of the original founding organization and Board of Directors of Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity. Also he was the chair of the Building Committee for several years and has been the Construction Manager since 2000. His duties include managing construction of Habitat homes and supervising construction. When he isn’t working he enjoys backpacking, hiking, gardening, and woodworking.
